Detectives from the Operation Support Unit (OSU) have successfully recovered two Isuzu lorries stolen in Murang’a County, following an intensive investigation that led them to Mombasa County.
The vehicles, an Isuzu FVZ registration number KDQ 845T and an Isuzu FRR registration number KDL 078W, were stolen in Gatanga on August 16, 2025.
Notably, one of the recovered lorries is a garbage collection truck belonging to the Murang’a County Government, making the theft a blow to public service delivery in the area.
Following the incident, detectives launched a thorough investigation to identify the suspects and locate the stolen vehicles.
Through intelligence-led operations, five suspects were arrested: Peter Njuguna Gitau, Mark Kinyua, Erick Chege, David Kigo, and Joseph Ndung’u Waweru.
Peter Njuguna Gitau, who belongs to the Party of National Unity, was elected to represent the Mwea Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya since the Kenyan parliamentary election of 2007.
