The National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme has dismissed as fake a document circulating on social media purporting to be an official statement from the World Bank regarding its partnership with the Government of Kenya.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, February 11 2026, NYOTA Kenya clarified that the viral document branded as a World Bank news release is not authentic and should be treated as misinformation.
“This document is FAKE and should be DISREGARDED. The World Bank has NOT issued any official communication or statement in relation to this matter,” the statement read.
The document in question, bearing the World Bank logo and titled “World Bank Reaffirms Partnership with The Government of Kenya on NYOTA,” claims to respond to remarks allegedly made by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua concerning the programme.
However, NYOTA Kenya has categorically distanced itself and the World Bank from the document, warning members of the public against sharing unverified information.
The viral release suggests that the World Bank sought to “clarify the facts and set the record straight” regarding the youth empowerment programme.
It further outlines details about NYOTA’s objectives, including expanding employment opportunities and enhancing income generation among vulnerable youth.
NYOTA officials have maintained that the World Bank has not published any such communication.

While dismissing the fake release, NYOTA reaffirmed that its partnership arrangements and programme updates are communicated through official government and World Bank channels.
The programme, which is a flagship youth empowerment initiative by the Government of Kenya, is supported through World Bank financing and focuses on job creation, entrepreneurship, and skills development among young people.
Officials urged the public and stakeholders to verify information through credible sources before sharing it, especially on matters touching on development partnerships.
The clarification comes amid heightened political discourse surrounding youth-focused programmes in the country.
NYOTA emphasized the importance of factual reporting and responsible communication, noting that misinformation can undermine public trust and ongoing development efforts.
The programme also stated that any official statements from the World Bank or the Government of Kenya will be issued through verified platforms.
For now, NYOTA has advised Kenyans to disregard the circulating document entirely.
