HELB Warns Kenyans Against Fraudulent Recruitments

Share

The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has issued a public alert warning Kenyans against rising recruitment scams falsely linked to the state agency.

In a notice titled “Public Alert: Warning Against Recruitment Scams,” the Board cautioned members of the public and job applicants to be vigilant against fraudsters purporting to offer employment opportunities within the institution.

In the statement, HELB said it, “wishes to inform members of the public and all job applicants that HELB does not recruit through agents or third-party agencies.”

The agency underscored that any individual or group claiming to act on its behalf in exchange for payment is acting fraudulently.

The Board further clarified that its recruitment processes are conducted transparently and strictly through official channels.

“Further, HELB does not require applicants to pay any fees or submit medical reports or any other documents outside those clearly stated in the official job advertisement,” the notice reads.

No Fees, No Agents in Recruitment

HELB emphasized that it does not charge candidates at any stage of the recruitment process.

The warning comes as there have been reports of people soliciting money from vulnerable applicants, promising them a placement in the agency.

“Members of the public are advised to be vigilant and avoid engaging with individuals or groups claiming to represent HELB in exchange for employment opportunities,” the Board stated.

The agency also reemphasized the point that genuine vacancies are advertised formally and through no intermediary.

By creating some distance between itself and agents/third-party labor recruiters, HELB is assuring applicants that it maintains a fair and transparent hiring process.

The Board emphasizes that any form of deviation from official communication is a cause for alarm.

Official Communication Channels Only

The agency maintained that “all official communication from HELB is conducted through verified channels only.”

For verification or inquiries, the public has been advised to contact the institution directly through its designated contacts.

The notice provided the official phone number, +254711052000, and email address, contactcentre@helb.co.ke, as the only recognized avenues for engagement regarding recruitment matters.
