President William Ruto concluded the national roll-out of NYOTA’s Business Start-Up Capital component by disbursing Ksh 63 million to 2,520 beneficiaries in Wajir County.

In a statement, Ruto said a total of 121,800 beneficiaries across the country have received a grant of Ksh 2.5 billion in the first phase of the programme to start or expand their businesses.

Ruto said the beneficiaries will receive half of the remaining grant in the next few weeks to bring the total allocation to Ksh 50,000.

“In the coming weeks, each beneficiary will receive an additional Ksh 25,000, bringing the total allocation to Ksh 50,000 for each young entrepreneur,” Ruto said.

NYOTA Mentorship

Further, Ruto said the government will continue to mentor the beneficiaries over the next six months.

He highlighted that recipients need access to more affordable funding options to promote the long-term stability and expansion of their businesses.

“Beyond financial support, we will continue to provide structured mentorship over the next six months and thereafter link beneficiaries to additional sources of affordable credit to ensure the sustainability and growth of their enterprises,” he said.
