Oustered Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has declared that he will attend the party’s upcoming National Delegates Conference (NDC), dismissing speculation about his status within the outfit and asserting that no one has the authority to expel him.
Speaking amid simmering internal tensions within the Oburu Oginga-led party, Sifuna maintained that he remains the duly recognized Secretary General and that he and his allies are legitimate members of the political formation.
“I am the SG of ODM,” Sifuna said, firmly restating his position within the party hierarchy. “We will go to that NDC.”
He stated that his attendance at the high-stakes meeting is not in question, arguing that both he and like-minded delegates are fully entitled to participate in the party’s top decision-making organ.
Sifuna explained that he and his colleagues have not relinquished their membership in ODM, dismissing claims that they could be barred from attending the conference.
“We are still members of ODM,” he stated, pushing back against suggestions of disciplinary action or internal exclusion.
“These are delegates of ODM. We will go to that NDC.”

The National Delegates Conference is the supreme organ of the party, mandated to make key decisions on policy direction, leadership structures and constitutional amendments.
It typically brings together elected delegates from across the country and serves as a platform to consolidate party unity or recalibrate strategy.
Sifuna also dismissed claims that some party blocs might use other means to remove him or prevent him from attending the NDC.
He termed such sentiments as baseless and unconstitutional.
“There is nobody who can throw us out of the party,” he said, defying what he apparently perceived as a subtle way to side-line him or his supporters.

His remarks come at a time when ODM has been navigating internal disagreements over leadership roles and strategic direction, largely in the wake of shifting political alliances and national realignments.
The coming NDC might prove a damper that either heals the rifts or widens them.
With Sifuna publicly declaring his attendance, focus shifts to how the party leadership will manage the optics and substance of the conference.
