The Kenyan Embassy in Riyadh has dismissed viral reports of mistreatment involving Kenyan nationals at the SMASCO accommodation center, labeling the allegations “unfounded.”
In a statement issued Saturday, February 14, 2026, on X account, the Embassy maintained that the welfare of Kenyans in Saudi Arabia remains its top priority.
“The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Riyadh takes note of a video circulating online, alleging neglect and misconduct in assisting Kenyans at the Saudi Manpower Solutions Company (SMASCO) accommodation centre. The Embassy wishes to clarify that these claims are unfounded,” the Embassy statement read.

According to the statement, SMASCO is a licensed company under the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, providing support services to domestic workers.
The Embassy further stated that they will maintain structured relations with the SMASCO through scheduled weekly inspections and conduct additional visits whenever urgent concerns arise to ensure worker welfare and compliance standards are upheld.
“The Embassy maintains structured relations with SMASCO, including weekly visits to ensure the welfare of Kenyan nationals. Additional visits are undertaken when the need arises,” the Embassy statement read.
Data provided by the Embassy suggests a high volume of activity regarding citizen welfare over the past few months. Between July 2025 and January 2026, the mission successfully facilitated the repatriation of over 2,590 Kenyans from SMASCO and various deportation centers.

In response to recent social media reports, the Embassy will investigate these claims during its upcoming monitoring visits to SMASCO, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and worker welfare.
“The Embassy will, however, as part of the routine visits to SMASCO, verify the alleged claims in the circulating post,” the statement read.
It adds, “The Embassy reaffirms its commitment to protecting the welfare of all Kenyans in the Kingdom and urges the public to rely on verified information from official sources.”
