KNEC Rolls Out Training for KCSE, KJSEA Examiners, Announces Fees and Dates – How to Apply

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced that it will conduct training for examiners who will mark the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

In a notice dated Tuesday, February 17, 2026, KNEC stated that the training will take place between March and April 2026.

“The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) will conduct training of examiners for the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination between March and April 2026,” the notice read in part.

KNEC Announces Training of KJSEA and KCSE Examiners

According to the examination body, shortlisted applicants will be required to pay a training fee of Ksh 10,500.

The fee will only be paid by successful applicants, who will receive payment instructions via SMS and through the examiners’ application portal.

KNEC noted that the training will be conducted through a blended approach, combining online and residential sessions.

Shortlisted trainees will receive instructions on accessing the online materials, while the venue for the residential training will be communicated later. The residential session will be strictly mandatory.

Qualified examiners will later be engaged to mark KJSEA and KCSE examinations in accordance with KNEC’s recruitment criteria and personnel needs for each paper.

Eligibility Requirements

KNEC outlined the following criteria for applicants:

  • Must be a practising teacher or tutor in the relevant subject area
  • Must be registered and/or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or Public Service Commission
  • Must hold at least a Diploma in Education
  • Must have a minimum of three years’ teaching experience

  • Must not be under interdiction or disciplinary action
  • Must be recommended by their Head of Institution
  • Must be aged 50 years or below

Tutors from Teachers’ Training Colleges and TVET institutions are encouraged to apply for selected technical and practical subjects.

How to Apply

Interested applicants are required to:

  1. Access the KNEC examiners’ portal at https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke
  2. Log in using their CP2 username and password
  3. Reset their password (if forgotten) using their mobile number in the format 2547XXXXXXXX
  4. Create an account if they do not have CP2 credentials
  5. Complete their profile and select “Apply for Training” from the dashboard

At the same time, KNEC noted that training slots are limited and only qualified applicants who submit all required documents will be shortlisted on a first-come, first-served basis.
