The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has appointed a new Director General.
In a statement dated February 18, the Authority’s Board of Directors, led by Chairman Khatib Abdallah Mwashetani, announced the appointment of Nashon Kondiwa as Director General of NTSA for a term of three years, effective February 17, 2026.
“The NTSA Board of Directors, in consultation with the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Roads and Transport, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Nashon Kondiwa as Director General of the National Transport and Safety Authority for a term of three years, effective 17th February 2026,” the statement read.
According to NTSA, Kondiwa brings over 22 years of distinguished experience in information and communication technology (ICT), innovation, public sector leadership, transportation, intelligent transport systems, urban mobility, and digital transformation within the road transport sector.
Prior to his appointment, he served as Deputy Director of ICT at NTSA, where he spearheaded the digital transformation of the Authority and its service delivery systems.

The Board expressed confidence that Kondiwa’s proven expertise in ICT leadership, strategic vision, and deep institutional knowledge will steer NTSA to even greater heights, delivering measurable improvements in road transport management, road safety outcomes, and operational excellence.

The appointment of Nashon Kondiwa as the Authority’s Director General comes months after the position was declared vacant on November 4, 2025, following the end of George Njao’s tenure. He had held the position since his appointment in November 2019.
Njao has over 15 years of experience in the transport sector, particularly in safety management.
