The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) has announced new regulations for exporters, alongside the appointment of nine inspection companies to provide Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVoC) services for general goods.
In a notice dated Wednesday, 18 February 2026, KEBS stated that the changes will take effect from 19 February 2026, applying to all consignments shipped from countries where the appointed inspection firms operate.
As the statutory body responsible for ensuring quality standards for imports and exports in Kenya, KEBS conducts inspections either in the country of export or at ports of entry.
“KEBS wishes to inform all stakeholders and the public that the following inspection companies have been contracted to offer PVoC services for general goods for the next three (3) years with effect from 19th February 2026,” read the notice.
Under the new three-year contract cycle, the following firms have been appointed to provide PVoC services:
The zones and countries of responsibility for each firm are outlined in the PVoC manual, available on the KEBS website at www.kebs.org.

According to the Regulatory Body, all consignments shipped from countries with appointed inspection companies must be accompanied by Certificates of Conformity (CoCs) starting March 1 2026.
Shipments without a CoC will be subjected to destination inspection, with fees equal to 5% of the approved customs value.
Consignments from countries without an appointed inspection company will continue to undergo destination inspection, with fees ranging from USD 300 (Ksh 38,700) to USD 3,500 (Ksh 451,500), depending on customs value and any required laboratory testing.
