Ruto and CJ Koome Announce Fresh Appointments

President William Ruto has announced several appointments across government agencies.

In a Gazette Notice dated Friday, February 20, 2026, the Head of State made multiple changes in various state corporations and boards, including the reappointment of several officials to serve three-year terms.

Among those reappointed is Mzee Mwinyi Mzee, who will continue serving as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Coast Development Authority.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 (1) (a) of the Coast Development Authority Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, re-appoint Mzee Mwinyi Mzee as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Coast Development Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from February 20, 2026,” read part of the notice.

Additionally, the President reappointed several other officials to key leadership positions. These include Samson Kipkoech Some as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Tourism Fund Board, Abdillahi Ibrahim as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Medical Research Institute Board, Sophy Nekoye Waliaula as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Youth Advisory Board, and Jane Langat as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Women Enterprise Fund Advisory Board.

Meanwhile, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), led by Chief Justice Martha Koome, appointed members to the Public Private Partnerships Petition Committee for a three-year term effective February 9, 2026.

Stephen Odhiambo Anditi was appointed as Chairperson of the committee.

Other members appointed to the committee include Anne Jepkokei Cheboi, Brian Mutie Muithya, Leonard Kinyulusi, and Eric Thige Muchiri.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 172 (1) (c) of the Constitution and section 75 (2) (a) and (b) of the Public Private Partnerships Act, the Judicial Service Commission appoints Stephen Odhiambo Anditi as Chairperson,” read part of the notice.

Cabinet Secretaries Make Appointments

Elsewhere, several Cabinet Secretaries also made appointments and reappointments to various boards and councils through the same Gazette Notice.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba made fresh appointments to national polytechnic councils. James Okebiro Mageto and Ethel Nakhumicha Githirwa were appointed as members of the Kiambu National Polytechnic Council, while Pauline Mallo Nagila and Julius Mokogi were appointed to the Kabete National Polytechnic Council.

At the same time, Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe reappointed Gabriel Pulei as a member of the Kenya Dairy Board.

Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya reappointed John Njogu Njoroge as Chairperson of the Kenya Film Classification Board, alongside board members John Muigai Nyururu and Stephanie Kamene Maseki.

Investments, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui reappointed Francis Mugo as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Scrap Metal Council.

Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi reappointed Mark Nderitu Muturi, Sammy Choge, and Peter Kenneth Kimani as members of the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation board.

Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya, in her capacity as Chairperson of the Defence Council, reappointed Lt. Col. (Rtd.) Edward Cherop Kimosop as a member of the Advisory Committee on Military Veterans.
