Share

Motorists using the Nairobi Expressway have been urged to exercise caution following the onset of heavy rains currently being experienced across Nairobi and its surrounding areas.

In a notice on Saturday, February 21, MOJA Expressway Company outlined key safety measures aimed at reducing accidents and ensuring smooth traffic flow along the busy route during the rainy season.

The company emphasised the importance of ensuring that vehicle tyre tread depth is sufficient and that tyres are properly inflated to enhance grip on wet surfaces.

Motorists were also advised to slow down to allow more time to react to sudden splashes, braking vehicles, or unexpected obstacles on the highway.

Additionally, drivers were encouraged to increase their following distance to avoid rear-end collisions, which are more common on highways during wet weather conditions.

The company further called on motorists to remain visible by using headlights and ensuring that wipers are in good working condition to improve visibility.

Onset of the Long Rains Season

The rains mark the beginning of Kenya’s long rainy season, which typically begins from late February, through March and May, and subsides in June every year.
