I&M Bank has announced the passing of two of its most influential figures- its Founding Chief Executive Officer, A.V. Chavda, and retired Senior General Manager R.V. Narasimhan marking a profound moment of loss for the institution.
Both leaders passed away on February 21, 2026, leaving behind legacies deeply woven into the Bank’s history and growth.
Mr. Chavda, who was born on December 29, 1941, served as the Founding Chief Executive Officer of I&M Bank Kenya.
During the Bank’s formative years, he provided steady and visionary leadership that shaped its credit philosophy, strengthened governance structures, and embedded a culture of prudence and excellence.
In a statement, the Bank described him as “a pioneering leader whose vision, discipline and unwavering integrity laid the foundation for the institution we are today.”
Even after retiring from executive office, Mr. Chavda remained actively involved in the Bank’s affairs, serving in various Group Board roles and mentoring successive generations of leaders.
“To many within I&M Bank, he was more than a leader. He was a mentor, a teacher, and a source of inspiration,” the statement read, adding that his influence remains “indelibly woven into the strength of I&M Bank.”
