Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU) is a public university located in Western Kenya. It serves as the premier institution of higher education within Vihiga County and offers various undergraduate, diploma, certificate, and postgraduate degree programs.
KAFU was formerly affiliated with MMUST (Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology) before it achieved full university charter status (complete license to operate) from the Government of Kenya in August 2022.
Being an officially licensed public institution, KAFU represents the first fully accredited University in Vihiga County.
Through its development over the past ten years, KAFU has become a viable option for students looking for educational opportunities.
The university has grown from its inception as Kaimosi Teachers Training College (KTTC) to become Kaimosi Friends University College (KFUC) and, lastly, to its current status as a fully autonomous public university institution.
The mission of KAFU is to promote transformation in Kenya via education, research, innovation, and by serving the local community.
The Strategic Vision of KAFU is to provide quality instruction while also preparing students for their future careers by equipping graduates with the skills that employers demand both nationally and regionally.
KAFU, which is located in the Kaimosi Complex, is positioned about 500 metres off the Chavakali-Kapsabet Road and strategically between the three towns of Kisumu, Kakamega, and Kapsabet.
At the main campus, there are faculties for study and work as well as other support services available for all students and faculty members.
Currently, there is only one main location for the university (Kaimosi) with no other satellite campuses that provide teaching or learning.
Through its colleges and schools, Kaimosi Friends University provides a wide variety of academic programs.
Sciences, health sciences, computational /IT, teaching and learning in human and social environments, organizational studies, and research are amongst the disciplines represented by their undergraduate programs.
