Armed Gang Raids Police Station, Kills Officer and Injures Others

An armed gang attacked Musanda Police Station in Kakamega County, killing one police officer and injuring two others.

The assailants stole two G3 rifles loaded with ammunition during the raid before fleeing the scene.

Police have launched a manhunt to track down and arrest the suspects.

Police Constable Narrates Ordeal

At 9 pm, Police Constable Brian Kipngetich recorded a statement detailing events that had occurred earlier.

He said that while he was inside his house at the patrol base, six individuals on two motorcycles arrived at the station, claiming their motorcycle had been stolen at Sigomere.

Shortly after making the report, a commotion erupted at the police station, followed by a gunshot.

Kipngetich said one of the attackers remarked, “There is another one,” before he was shot on the left side of the head and retreated to his house.

Injured Individuals

The Officer Commanding Station (OCS) and other officers rushed to Mukhuwa Location and found Corporal Richard Utolo unconscious, bleeding from a chin wound. They took him to the hospital, where he remains in serious condition.

Kipngetich suffered a minor head injury, while Police Constable Finace Abura was wounded on the left ear.

His wife, Mary Omondi, sustained injuries to her head and right hand.
