Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) PLC has announced the exit of three directors from its Board, including two former Members of Parliament.
The outgoing directors are Hon. Alfred Agoi Masadia, former Sabatia MP; Hon. Rehema Hassan, former Tana River Woman Representative; and CPA Bernard Ngugi.
In a notice dated Saturday, March 7, 2026, KenGen said the changes followed amendments to the Company’s Articles of Association, approved by shareholders at an Extraordinary General Meeting on February 12, 2026. The amendments revised the Board’s structure and composition to strengthen governance, independence, and long-term oversight.
“KenGen wishes to notify its shareholders and the public of changes to the composition of the Board,” read part of the notice.
According to the Board, the outgoing directors relinquished their positions as Independent Non-Executive Directors, effective March 5, 2026.
Alfred Agoi Masadia, who served as Chairman, according to the Board, led the company through a period of significant growth, under which KenGen recorded its highest-ever Profit After Tax of approximately Ksh 10 billion.
The Board expressed appreciation to all outgoing directors for their contributions to the company’s governance, strategic direction, and operational performance.

KenGen affirmed its continued focus on operational excellence, financial sustainability, and delivering long-term value to shareholders.
The Board and management reiterated their commitment to leadership continuity and advancing Kenya’s clean and reliable energy future.
Alfred Agoi Masadia is the outgoing Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen).
He was appointed to this position in December 2024, succeeding Julius Migos Ogamba.
In addition to his role at KenGen, Masadia previously served as Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Lands in 2023.
He was also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sabatia Constituency for two terms (2013–2022) and served on the Budget Appropriations and Health committees.
Before his political career, Masadia worked as CEO at Kingsway Business Systems Limited and as Marketing Director at Ideal Office Products Limited.
He holds an MBA in Strategic Management and a BA in Economics and Government from the University of Nairobi.

Rehema Hassan is a seasoned public policy expert and outgoing Independent Non-Executive Director at KenGen. In March 2023, she was appointed Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Kenyan government.
She served as the Women Representative for Tana River County during the 12th Parliament (2017–2022) under the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party.
During her tenure, she was a member of the Environment & Natural Resources Committee and the Members Service & Facilities Committee.
Before entering elective politics, Hassan held several senior human resources roles, including Assistant Director of Human Resources for Tana River County and HR Manager at the Malindi District Commissioner’s Office.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources Management from Kenya Methodist University.
