Kenya Airways has experienced disruptions to several of its scheduled flights following heavy overnight rains in Nairobi and the surrounding areas.
In a statement, the Airline said some flights were diverted to Mombasa due to the adverse weather conditions, and additional flights scheduled for today have also been affected.
“The heavy overnight downpour in parts of Nairobi and its environs caused disruption to some of our scheduled flights. Due to the adverse weather conditions, some of our flights were also diverted to Mombasa. These disruptions have also affected some of our scheduled flights for today,” Kenya Airways said.
Passengers travelling out of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) have been advised to monitor their flight schedules closely as the airline works to restore normal operations later in the evening.
“If you are travelling out of JKIA today, please be aware that your flight schedule may change. Our teams are working hard to get everything back to normal as soon as possible,” adds another part of the statement.

Kenya Airways urged customers to check their flight status on kenya-airways.com and ensure their contact details are updated through the Manage Booking option to receive direct updates.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused, which was out of our control. We expect to return to normal operations later this evening,” Kenya Airways added.
Police Commander George Seda reported that the Nairobi floods have killed 10 people, swept away 8, electrocuted 2, and destroyed 71 cars.
