Ruto Orders Deployment of KDF as Rain and Floods Disrupt Nairobi

Share

President William Ruto has stated that the ongoing flooding in parts of Nairobi and several other areas of Kenya has caused immense distress to many families, resulting in the tragic loss of lives, displacement of residents, and damage to homes, property, and livelihoods.

In a statement on March 7, Ruto sent condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones during this difficult time.

“Our thoughts and prayers are also with all those whose lives have been disrupted by this disaster,” he said.

Ruto said the Government stands in solidarity with every citizen affected, and they are acting swiftly to alleviate further suffering and safeguard lives.

Ruto ordered the deployment of a multi-agency emergency response team led by the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, working closely with the Kenya Defence Forces and other emergency response agencies.

“To strengthen ongoing rescue and relief operations, I have directed the immediate deployment of a multi-agency emergency response team led by the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, working closely with the Kenya Defence Forces and other emergency response agencies. This team will coordinate rescue efforts, support affected communities, and ensure that those in danger are moved to safer locations,” he said.
