Residents of the Maraba area in Kakamega town woke up to a shocking tragedy after two bodies were discovered inside a rental house in what police suspect could be a murder-suicide incident.
Among the deceased is a third-year education student from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), leaving the local community and fellow students in deep shock and grief.
The tragic discovery was made after a father, Moses Luvonga, became worried when he had not heard from his son for an entire day.
Concerned by the unusual silence, Luvonga decided to visit his son’s rented room in Maraba.
After breaking into the room, he made the horrifying discovery.
The father described the moment he realized something was terribly wrong.
“After I saw his body, I saw blood, and I knew he was in bad shape,” he said.

He explained that the door had to be forced open before he could access the room.
“Upon breaking the door, that’s when I saw his body. I found his body lying on the ground. I told the police to come and take him away,” he added.
The mother was equally devastated after arriving at the scene and finding not one but two bodies inside the house.
“He was alone. I went to look for him, and I found two men. They were dead in the house. I don’t know who the other one is, but my life is a tragedy,” she said.
Inside the house, the body of their son was reportedly lying on the floor with visible blood stains around him.
The grim discovery did not end there. Residents who gathered at the scene said another body was found in a different room within the house.
According to one resident, the second body was discovered in the bathroom.
“We found another body in the room. From there, the police took over their work. The body that was in the bathroom was hanging on the ceiling of the shower,” the resident said.

Police officers quickly arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area as shocked residents gathered outside the house.
The two bodies were later removed and taken to the mortuary for preservation as detectives began collecting evidence from the house.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing, and a post-mortem examination will help determine the exact cause of death and whether the incident was indeed a murder followed by suicide.
The tragic incident has left the Maraba community in disbelief as residents struggle to come to terms with the loss of a young university student and the mysterious circumstances surrounding the deaths.
