Centum Offloads 27% Bakki Holdco Stake, Exits Sidian Bank

Centum Investment Company PLC has exited Sidian Bank after completing the sale of its 27% stake held through Bakki Holdco Limited.

In a notice dated Thursday, March 12, 2026, the company announced that the divestment marks the conclusion of its involvement with Sidian Bank, aligning with Centum’s strategy to strengthen liquidity and redirect capital toward new investment opportunities.

Centum held a 50% stake in Bakki Holdco, which in turn owned 27.2% of Sidian Bank. The transaction received all necessary approvals from the Central Bank of Kenya and the Competition Authority of Kenya, and was concluded following the fulfilment of customary conditions precedent.

“With the completion of this sale, Bakki Holdco Limited will cease to be a subsidiary of Centum,” the company stated in a public notice to shareholders.

Centum said the financial impact of the transaction will be reflected in its next financial reporting cycle for the year ending March 31, 2026, and expects a modest gain relative to the previously reported carrying value of Bakki Holdco Limited in its books.

“The Company expects the sale to result in a modest financial gain relative to the previously reported carrying value of Bakki Holdco Limited in Centum’s books,” read the notice.

James Mworia, CFA, CGMA, Group CEO and Managing Director of Centum, confirmed the completion of the sale, describing it as an important milestone in the company’s portfolio management.
