Repair works on a damaged transmission pipeline along Outer Ring Road in Nairobi are almost complete, but ongoing heavy rains have slowed down the operations, according to Nairobi Water Company.
In a public update issued on March 15, the company said most of the repairs have already been completed and only a small section of the pipeline remains. However, persistent rainfall has made it significantly more difficult to continue work.
More so at the river crossing, where safety risks increased for their technical teams and equipment, the company said the downpour forced engineers to temporarily suspend operations late Sunday night to avoid accidents. Work at the site was stopped at around 10 pm as conditions became unsafe for workers carrying out the final repairs of the transmission line.
The pipeline was damaged following recent flooding that affected several parts of Nairobi, disrupting water supply to multiple estates across the city.
