The conflict between the United States, Iran, and Israel intensified on Sunday, March 15, 2026, after Tehran warned residents to evacuate three major ports in the United Arab Emirates while U.S. President Donald Trump called on allied nations to deploy warships to safeguard the critical Strait of Hormuz shipping lane.
Iran’s warning marked the first time the country has openly threatened infrastructure belonging to a neighboring Gulf state that is not directly involved in the fighting.
Tehran alleged that the United States used facilities in the UAE to launch strikes against Kharg Island, a strategic hub that handles the bulk of Iran’s oil exports.
However, Iranian officials did not present evidence to support the claim.
“Iran will target ports, docks and hideouts used to launch attacks on its territory,” an Iranian military spokesperson warned, urging civilians to leave those locations immediately.
Amid growing fears that the conflict could disrupt global oil supplies, President Trump appealed to U.S. allies to send naval forces to help secure the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy shipping routes.

Trump said international cooperation was necessary to protect vessels passing through the narrow waterway linking the Persian Gulf to the global market.
“We hope our allies will send warships to help secure the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump said as tensions escalated in the region.
The strait is considered a strategic choke point for global energy trade, with a significant portion of the world’s oil shipments passing through it each day. Any disruption could have major economic consequences worldwide.
The UAE reported a missile attack shortly after Iran’s evacuation warning, prompting authorities to urge residents to remain in safe locations.
The incident added to growing security concerns across the Gulf, where several countries have already intercepted Iranian missiles and drones since the conflict escalated earlier this year.
Iran’s joint military command also accused what it called “the enemy”-a term often used to refer to the United States and Israel of carrying out attacks in neighboring countries using drones designed to look like Iranian weapons.
According to the statement, copies of Iran’s Shahed-type drones were allegedly used to strike targets in countries such as Turkey, Iraq, and Kuwait in an attempt to blame Tehran.

Iran insisted that it only targets U.S. and Israeli interests in the region.
The war, which began in late February after U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian facilities, has already caused heavy casualties and widespread instability across the Middle East.
With missile attacks, airstrikes, and threats to vital oil infrastructure increasing, the conflict could expand further if Gulf states become directly involved.
