The Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), General Charles Kahariri, held high-level discussions with the United Kingdom’s Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Roland Walker, during his official visit to Kenya.
General Walker paid a courtesy call at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi, where he was received with a half guard of honour mounted by the Kenya Air Force. The visit reflects the enduring defence partnership between Kenya and the United Kingdom.
The meeting brought together senior military officials from both sides, focusing on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation. Discussions centred on joint training, operational collaboration and capacity building between the Kenya Defence Forces and the British Army.
Kenya and the UK have maintained a long-standing relationship in defence and security matters, with continued collaboration in counter-terrorism efforts and regional peacekeeping initiatives across East Africa.
“The strong relationship between the Kenya Defence Forces and the British Army continues to enhance our operational effectiveness and readiness through joint training and shared expertise.” General Kahariri stated.
He added that such engagements play a key role in improving interoperability and addressing evolving security challenges in the region.
“The UK remains committed to working closely with Kenya in strengthening our defence ties and supporting regional stability through joint initiatives,” General Walker said.

The two leaders also discussed emerging threats, including terrorism and cross-border insecurity, which continue to pose challenges within the region.
“Our collaboration is crucial in ensuring stability not only in Kenya but across the wider East African region.” General Kahariri stated.
He emphasized Kenya’s strategic role in maintaining peace and security in the region.

“Kenya is a vital partner for the UK in East Africa and our cooperation is key to tackling shared security concerns.” General Walker said.
The visit by General Walker forms part of ongoing efforts to reinforce strategic defence relations between Kenya and the United Kingdom, further cementing their role as key allies in promoting peace and stability.
