The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced that the East African Community (EAC) Customs Bond will be rolled out starting March 23, 2026.
In a statement, the tax authority informed customs agents that the implementation follows the launch of the regional bond by the East African Community Heads of State.
KRA noted that the new system is part of ongoing efforts to enhance trade within the region and improve efficiency in customs processes. The unified bond will allow traders and customs agents to operate under a single financial guarantee across all EAC member states.
The authority further indicated that preparations for the rollout have been completed, paving the way for a smooth transition to the new framework.
“Following the launch of the East African Community Customs Bond by the East African Community Heads of State, we wish to inform all Customs agents that the bond will be rolled out effective 23rd March 2026,” KRA stated.
“We have finalized all system enhancements to support implementation and will continue to work closely with stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition.” The statement added.
