A woman reportedly accused of conning people seeking jobs millions of shillings by promising them positions in the National Police Service has been arraigned in court in Mwea East.
According to detectives from DCI Mwea, the suspect allegedly coerced at least three individuals into believing she could influence their recruitment into the National Police Service.
The victims reported the matter at Wang’uru Police Station, saying that they had each paid significant amounts of money after being assured of securing jobs at the National Police Service.
The total amount lost in the whole conning scheme is estimated at around 3000,000 Kenyan shillings.

Police say that after receiving the money from the victims, the suspect reportedly disappeared and went silent without any communication with the victims.
Attempts to find her or recover their funds were very unsuccessful, which made them file a formal complaint to the police.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Mwea East launched investigations and eventually tracked down and arrested the suspect.
She was presented before the Wang’uru Law Courts, where she faced charges of conspiracy to defraud and multiple counts of obtaining money under false pretenses.
The court released her on a cash bail of Ksh 500,000 with an equivalent surety of the same amount, as the case awaits hearing.
The DCI has since warned the public to remain vigilant and avoid individuals claiming that they can influence recruitment into any governmental institutions.
