The family of the martial arts and cinema action film icon Chuck Norris has released a statement via social media that confirms that Norris passed away at 86 years old.
The statement reports that Norris died on March 19, 2026, in Kauai, Hawaii, where he had some residency in recent years, and highlights that he lived as long as his mother and had an impressive career filled with accolades.
With this announcement, it is definitely a sad moment for many who knew Chuck Norris, or were fans of Chuck Norris.
His family members expressed their sadness, but were also grateful for Chuck’s life and legacy, and included the following in the statement:
“It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning. While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace,” the statement read.
Norris was born to his parents, Wilma Scarberry and Ray Norris, on March 10, 1940, in Ryan, Oklahoma.
Norris began his martial arts education while serving as a member of the United States Air Force.
Following his time in the military, he became known for his martial arts skills and eventually gained fame as an actor in the action film genre.

Norris has three siblings: Aaron Norris, Wieland Clyde Norris andlo, respectively.
As Norris continued to grow older and establish himself as a major talent within the motion picture industry, he also developed a sizeable family, which includes Dakota Alan Norris, Eric Norris, Danilee Kelly Norris, Dina Norris, and Mike Norris, who are all direct descendants of Chuck Norris.
Chuck Norris is well-known for his expertise in several types of martial arts, including karate, taekwondo, tang soo do, Chun Kuk Do, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and judo.

Norris’ mastery of each discipline helped him to portray in films and television tough, disciplined characters involved in high-action scenes.
While off screen, Norris has had a fulfilling personal life, which has included a marriage to Dianne Holechek from 1958 to 1989 and another marriage to Gena O’Kelley from 1998 to the present day.
Also as a grandfather, Norris has several grandchildren (such as Greta Norris and Camrynn Norris) through his first marriage.
