The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the resumption of operations at the Globe Roundabout along Thika Superhighway, restoring normal traffic flow in the area after a period of disruption.
In a public notice released on March 25, 2026, KeNHA confirmed that traffic movement at the Globe Roundabout has fully resumed after the completion of reinstatement works at the Nairobi River Bridge.
Motorists using the route can now use the road after nearly two weeks of disruption caused by infrastructure works.
The temporary closure, which took effect on March 12, had significantly affected movement between the Nairobi Central Business District, Kipande Road and the Thika Superhighway corridor.
The Globe Roundabout is one of Nairobi’s most critical traffic connections, it links the city centre to northern suburbs and satellite towns along the A2 highway.

The Roundabout Was Initially Closed for Repairs
During the closure period, motorists experienced delays and were forced to seek other routes as engineers worked to restore sections affected near the bridge crossing.
According to KeNHA, the works were necessary to facilitate reinstatement along the Nairobi River Bridge section and ensure the safety of motorists and durability of the infrastructure.
Motorists to Resume Normal Activity
With the restoration now complete, motorists are informed that they can resume normal travel through the area without any problems.
KeNHA also acknowledged the patience shown by road users and residents who were affected during the construction period, noting that their cooperation played an important role in enabling the works to proceed without any problems.

Movement to Resume
The reopening of the route is expected to ease congestion around the Nairobi CBD and improve traffic efficiency for thousands of commuters who rely on the Thika Superhighway on a daily basis.
KeNHA officials say the completion of the works marks a key step in maintaining safe and reliable movement within Nairobi’s busy road network as authorities continue upgrading critical infrastructure across the capital.
