Kenyan journalist and media personality Lynn Ngugi has stirred conversation after revealing her potential interest in holding elective office, while at the same time clarifying the kind of positions she would aim for if she ever decided to venture into politics.
In a post on X, Ngugi thanked her followers and supporters for their confidence after one of them encouraged her to contest the Nairobi Woman Representative position.
However, she made it clear that she does not currently feel called to enter politics.
“I really appreciate the confidence and the thought behind this. It genuinely means a lot to even be considered, but I’ll be honest, I don’t feel called to step into politics,” she wrote.

Ngugi spoke on the challenges journalists often face when transitioning into politics, stating that some lose the very qualities that made them influential voices in society.
“I’ve watched some of the bravest, most grounded journalists enter that space and slowly lose what made them powerful in the first place. Sometimes it doesn’t even feel accidental… it feels like the system is designed to wear people down or set them up to fail,” she added.
Despite her current decision to remain in the media, Ngugi did not hide her ambitions for the future.
With a mix of humor and confidence, she hinted at the two political positions she could go for if she decides to go into politics.
“If I ever run, I am going for President or Senator,” she said.
Her statement has already attracted attention across social media platforms, with her followers speculating on the kind of impact she could have if she took on national leadership or a legislative role.
While she is not currently campaigning for either of the two seats, her reveal shows that she is keeping her options open and thinking big about her potential political career.
For now, Ngugi says on her official X page that she remains committed to journalism, emphasizing that her focus is on what she knows and does best. But her declaration aimed at the country’s top offices.
