Inside the Meeting Between CDF Kahariri and Trump’s Navy Commander

The Chief of the Defence Forces, General Charles Kahariri, hosted the Commander, US Naval Forces Europe and Africa, Admiral George Wikoff, on March 24, 2026, at Defence Headquarters in Nairobi.

During the visit, the two leaders held discussions on key security issues of mutual interest, including regional security, counterterrorism efforts, and the role of emerging technologies in modern defence operations.

They also explored opportunities to further strengthen defence cooperation between the Kenya Defence Forces and the United States, particularly in maritime security and joint training initiatives.

General Kahariri reaffirmed the importance of sustained collaboration between Kenya and the United States in addressing evolving security challenges and enhancing regional operational readiness.

Admiral Wikoff commended the Kenya Defence Forces for its professionalism and commitment to promoting regional peace and stability, noting that the partnership between the two forces remains vital in advancing shared security interests.

The visit reaffirmed the longstanding military relationship between the Kenya Defence Forces and the United States, particularly in capacity building, maritime domain awareness, and joint exercises aimed at enhancing operational readiness.

UK Chief of the General Staff Meets CDF Kahariri

This comes after the Chief of the General Staff of the United Kingdom, General Sir Roland Walker, paid a courtesy call on CDF Kahariri at Defence Headquarters in Nairobi.

The visit was part of Walker’s familiarisation tour aimed at strengthening defence cooperation between Kenya and the United Kingdom.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the two defence leaders to review the longstanding military partnership between their respective forces and explore avenues for deepening strategic collaboration.

Discussions focused on enhancing joint training initiatives, strengthening institutional capacity building, and expanding areas of operational cooperation in response to emerging regional and global security challenges.

As part of the visit, General Walker also visited Headquarters Kenya Army, where he held discussions with the Commander Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Ketter.

The engagement focused on strengthening military-to-military collaboration, particularly in the areas of training, capacity building, and operational readiness.
