Share

Senator Godfrey Osotsi has been removed from his position as ODM Deputy Party Leader.

At Jamhuri Grounds in Nairobi, delegates at the Orange Democratic Movement’s Special Delegates Convention voted to sack Godfrey Osotsi as Deputy Party Leader, a move that indicates a major shake-up is underway in the party.

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed made the announcement during the ODM Special Delegates Convention held on Friday, March 27, 2026.

“Osotsi does not have a proposer and a seconder, meaning he cannot get that position,” Junet said.

“Osotsi was brought here by the National Governing Council to become the deputy leader, but we cannot find a proposer and a seconder. We are going to drop him as deputy party leader.”

Footage seen by hivileo.co.ke shows attendees of the event rejecting the proposal to have Osotsi as the deputy party leader when Junet put out the question.

“Senator Osotsi has been dropped at the Special Delegates Convention as the deputy leader of ODM,” Junet added.

The Special Delegates Convention endorsed Dr. Oburu Oginga as the party leader with Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir and Simba Arati as deputy party leaders.

Governor Gladys Wanga was confirmed as the National Chairperson with Otiende Amollo and Dr. John Ariko.

Ruth Odinga was elected as the deputy National Organizing Secretary.

Wanga Confirms Decision

Speaking during the event, Wanga said the changes will be included in the records of the ODM party.

She stated that the decision to drop Osotsi has been referred back to the National Executive Committee.

“The Special Delegates Convention objected to the ratification of Osotsi as the deputy party leader, and the same has been referred back to the National Executive Committee for consideration,” Wanga.
