Shock as Another MP Dies While Undergoing Treatment in India

The Ol Kalou Member of Parliament in Kenya, David Njuguna Kiaraho, is no more after passing on while undergoing specialised treatment in India.

This brings us to the end of a illustrious career, which had as its hallmark service to the people and excellence.

Kiaraho’s death was confirmed on Sunday, 29th March 2026, during a period of illness when he underwent treatment locally and internationally.

Exact cause of death has not yet been disclosed to the general public, with those around him remaining tight-lipped about the circumstances surrounding his death.

His death marks a leadership vacuum in Ol Kalou Constituency and is a major blow to Kenya’s political and professional scene.

Mr. Kiaraho was an esteemed politician and Member of Parliament representing Ol Kalou Constituency in Nyandarua County under the Jubilee Party (JP) ticket in two consecutive terms from 2013 to 2022.

Apart from this, he was known as a seasoned architect and a mobiliser with exceptional organisational skills.

Career in Public Service and Architecture

Before venturing into elective politics, Kiaraho had an illustrious career in architecture.

He worked as a Principal Architect at Archgrid Systems from 1993 until his death.

He was a “well-renowned architect” whose specialty was urban planning and public service works.

His professional associations included membership in BORAQS (A888) and the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK-1817).

During his parliamentary term, he was an active member in crucial parliamentary committees: the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works, and Housing, as well as the Procedure and House Rules Committee.

His contributions were mainly in infrastructure development, energy, housing, and transport—areas in which he showed an interest in throughout his career.

Education and Leadership Background

The educational background of Kiaraho starts from Munyeki Primary School, followed by Park Road Primary School.

Kiaraho furthered his education at Alliance High School for O-Level and later joined Nairobi School for A-Level.

His university education was at the University of Nairobi, where he pursued a Bachelor of Architecture course from 1985 to 1992.

Kiaraho was not only a leader in Parliament and in professional circles but also a winner of the Mizani Africa Leadership Award for his contribution to leadership and service to the nation.
