Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives have arrested two suspects who have been impersonating Commission officials and extorting money from unsuspecting individuals in the country.

This comes after the Commission received a complaint that prompted immediate action from the anti-corruption body.

According to reports from the Commission, the suspects, who have been identified as Annastacia Mueni Kavemba and Stephen Muleu Ngati, were arrested after allegedly hatching a plan that involved impersonating EACC officials.

The suspects reportedly targeted unsuspecting individuals in the country by falsely claiming that they were being investigated by the Commission.

In a press release, the Commission reported that the arrest was made following a complaint lodged on March 29, 2026.

According to the Commission, “one of the suspects, Ms. Mueni, contacted the complainant and introduced herself as an EACC officer. She used intimidation tactics to demand money from the complainant.”

Sting Operation and Arrest

The EACC disclosed that Ms. Mueni allegedly told the complainant they were under active investigation and risked further legal action unless they complied with her demands.

“She claimed that the complainant was under investigation and demanded money to influence the outcome of the case and prevent further action,” the statement read.
