Former UDA Strategist Reveals Plan to Impeach Ruto Before End of June

Share

Former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) communications strategist Arnold Maliba has sparked fresh political debate after alleging that there is an ongoing petition to impeach President William Ruto before the end of June.

Speaking during a media interview, Maliba painted a picture of growing dissent within political circles, claiming that a section of leaders is quietly mobilizing support for a potential impeachment motion.

According to Maliba, a petition is already in motion and has gained traction among Members of Parliament.

“Somebody is actually filing a petition. Somebody that I know is actually filing a petition, and I’ve seen it with my own eyes. It’s there. 120 MPs are already okay with it,” he claimed.

He further suggested that the numbers could rise significantly in the coming weeks, particularly as the budget-making process approaches.

“If you check the meeting in Jamhuri, the numbers are growing. You expect that probably by the time we are going for the budgeting, there will be an impeachment motion,” Maliba added.

Politics of Fear and Intimidation

Maliba also alleged that the current administration is governing through fear, discouraging dissent among politicians and activists.

“Politicians struggle a lot, especially if you speak your mind… their privacy is compromised, their families are threatened,” he said.

He argued that such an environment makes it difficult for leaders to openly oppose the government, emphasizing the need for individuals with strong convictions.

Praise for Sifuna and Babu

In his remarks, Maliba singled out Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino as examples of leaders who are financially independent and less susceptible to political pressure.

“You need a man of conviction like Edwin Sifuna… who says my little salary from the Senate is enough,” he noted.

He added that such leaders are critical in pushing reform movements like the emerging “Linda Mwananchi” initiative.

Allegations of State Spending and Patronage

Maliba further accused the government of excessive spending to maintain political loyalty, alleging that delegates are being paid to attend meetings.

“You will find an ordinary delegate coming from Siaya gets Ksh 30,000  just for showing up. There is so much money to dish out,” he claimed.

He contrasted this with what he described as the government’s reluctance to fund essential public services.
