Share

The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) has announced opportunities for young graduates to join its 2026 Young Professionals (YP) Programme, a competitive annual initiative which is aimed at nurturing the next generation of public policy researchers and analysts in Kenya.

In a notice released by the institute on March 31, 2026, KIPPRA said it is inviting applications to fill 30 vacant positions under the KIPPRA-sponsored admissions programme.

The training will be conducted on a full-time physical basis and will combine structured coursework with hands-on research experience designed to strengthen participants’ capacity to contribute to national development planning.

The institute says that the programme is part of its broader mandate to develop human and institutional capacities needed to formulate medium and long-term strategic perspectives for Kenya’s development.

Selected Applicants To Gain Exposure

Through this initiative, KIPRRA says that successful applicants will gain exposure to real policy processes while building the technical and leadership skills required in the public sector and research institutions.

Participants will undertake coursework covering key areas such as the public policy-making process, introduction to the legislative process, applied research methods, tools for policy analysis, governance structures in a devolved system of government, monitoring and evaluation, macroeconomic modelling and forecasting, systems of national accounts, and introduction to the Social Accounting Matrix (SAM).

What Is Expected Of Trainees

By the end of the programme, trainees are expected to produce and publish various research outputs, giving them practical experience in policy research and analysis while contributing to knowledge that supports evidence-based decision-making in the government.

According to KIPPRA, the objective of the Young Professionals Programme is to equip emerging professionals with the skills and networks necessary to actively participate in public policy processes while also expanding their understanding of national development priorities.
