Police in Nairobi have launched investigations into the sudden death of a Chinese national who was found unresponsive at the Talanta Stadium construction site in Jamhuri.
The incident occurred on the morning of Monday, March 30, when security personnel stationed at the facility were alerted to the situation.
According to preliminary reports, the deceased, an adult male worker, was discovered inside a latrine by a chef attached to the Chinese management team overseeing the project.
Following the discovery, security officers, alongside other Chinese nationals at the site, quickly responded and rushed the man to Nairobi Hospital in a bid to save his life. However, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Authorities have since revealed that the circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear.
Notably, a slight injury was observed on the right side of the man’s head, raising questions about what may have transpired before he was found.

Nairobi police officers visited the stadium shortly after the incident to examine the scene and begin preliminary investigations.
The area where the body was found has been secured as detectives continue to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses.
Confirming the incident, Nairobi Police Commander Issa Mohamud stated that investigators are currently exploring two main possibilities.
“We are considering whether this was a sudden natural death or a case of murder,” he said.
The body has since been transferred to Lee Funeral Home, where a postmortem examination is expected to be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Officials say the results of the autopsy will play a crucial role in guiding the direction of the investigation.

The incident has drawn attention to the ongoing construction of Talanta Stadium, a major infrastructure project expected to play a key role in Kenya’s preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The 60,000-seat facility, which is set to be renamed Raila Odinga Stadium, has been under construction since March 2024 and employs several foreign workers, including Chinese nationals.
Following a recent inspection by the Senate Committee on Roads and Infrastructure, the project’s completion timeline was revised, with works now expected to be finalized by June 2026.
As investigations continue, authorities have urged patience, assuring the public that all possible angles are being examined to establish the truth behind the worker’s death.
