The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has rescheduled the maintenance of its Integrated Customs Management System (ICMS) to April 12, 2026, following consultations with stakeholders in the logistics and trade sectors.
Initially, KRA had planned the system downtime to run from April 4 to April 6. However, after engaging industry players, the authority adjusted the schedule and will now conduct the maintenance on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 4:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m.
The move aims to reduce disruptions and ensure smoother cargo operations across the country.
According to KRA, stakeholder feedback played a key role in the decision. In particular, the authority considered ongoing activities at the Port of Mombasa, where cargo movement remains critical to regional trade.
“This rescheduling follows extensive stakeholder consultations and a strategic assessment of current operations to ensure efficient, smooth evacuation and movement of cargo,” KRA stated in the notice.
Meanwhile, KRA has called on importers, exporters, clearing agents, and shipping lines to take early action ahead of the scheduled downtime.
The authority advised them to pre-lodge documents, complete payments, and clear cargo in advance.
In addition, KRA emphasized the need to prioritize perishable and time-sensitive consignments. By doing so, stakeholders can avoid delays and potential losses during the maintenance window.
Since the ICMS platform supports cargo clearance and revenue processing, any downtime directly affects trade processes.
Therefore, early preparation will help maintain continuity and reduce congestion once the system resumes.
