NSE Announces Leadership Changes as Millicent Ngetich Resigns as Company Secretary

The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) has announced leadership changes following the resignation of its Company Secretary, Millicent Ngetich.

In a notice issued by the Board of Directors on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, through NSE Chief Executive Officer Frank Mwiti, the Exchange said Ngetich stepped down from her position effective March 31, 2026, bringing her tenure at the company to an end.

“In accordance with the provisions of the Capital Markets Act and its Regulations, the Board of Directors of the Nairobi Securities Exchange PLC (NSE) wishes to announce the following changes with respect to the Company Secretary,” read part of the notice.

Millicent Ngetich Resigns as NSE’s Company Secretary

The Board commended her for her service, noting her contribution and dedication to the organisation during her time in office, and wished her success in her future endeavours.

Millicent Ng’etich has served as the Company Secretary for the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) PLC for approximately 1 year and 2 months, having been appointed effective January 24, 2025

At the same time, the NSE announced the appointment of Catherine Kawira as the new Company Secretary, effective April 1, 2026.

“Ms. Catherine Kawira has been appointed as the new Company Secretary of the NSE effective 1st April 2026,” read the notice.

Profile of Catherine Kawira

Kawira is a Certified Secretary and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with over a decade of experience in corporate governance, legal advisory and regulatory compliance.

Prior to her appointment, she worked at Image Registrars and also served as a Legal Researcher within the Judiciary, where she was involved in legal analysis, governance oversight and institutional compliance frameworks.

She has also previously worked at the Capital Markets Authority, where she participated in regulatory inspections, compliance assessments and risk-based supervision within the Market Operations Directorate.

Kawira holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Corporate Governance from the University of Nairobi, a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from Kenyatta University. She is a member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries as well as the Law Society of Kenya.
