The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced temporary job opportunities for various positions ahead of the upcoming by-elections.
According to its recruitment portal, the commission has posted several job openings on different dates, with all applications required to be submitted by April 4.
The positions advertised by the electoral body include Ward-Based Voter Educator, Constituency Voter Educator, Presiding Officer, Deputy Presiding Officer, Support Electoral Trainer (SET), and Polling/Counting Clerk.
Applicants interested in the roles must meet specific qualifications and competency requirements set by the commission, which vary depending on the position.
Polling/Counting Clerks IEBC Requirements
- Must be a Kenyan citizen of high integrity and non-partisan.
- Minimum KCSE grade of C- and above.
- Must be of good character.

- Must be available for the entire period of the exercise.
- Must be a resident of the constituency or ward applied for.
Wages:
Polling/Counting Clerks will be paid KSh 1,000 per day.
Support Electoral Trainer (SET)
Requirements:
- Must be a Kenyan citizen of high integrity and non-partisan.
- Hold a degree or diploma from a recognised institution.
- Must be computer literate.
- Demonstrated training skills.
- Ability to manage people.
- Must be available for the entire exercise period.
- Must be a resident of the constituency or ward applied for.
Wages:
Support Electoral Trainers will be paid KSh 2,000 per day.
Presiding Officer and Deputy Presiding Officer
Requirements:
- Must be a Kenyan citizen of high integrity and non-partisan.
- Hold a degree or diploma from a recognised institution.
- Must be computer literate.
- Strong communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to manage people, sensitive data, and materials.
- Skills in data handling.
- Must be available for the entire exercise period.
- Must be a resident of the constituency or ward applied for.
Wages:
- Presiding Officers: KSh 2,000 per day
- Deputy Presiding Officers: KSh 1,800 per day
Constituency Voter Educator
Requirements:
- Minimum diploma in Social Sciences, Education, or Project Management.
- At least three years’ experience in voter or civic education, community mobilisation, or social work within the area applied for.
- Must be a resident of the constituency or ward applied for.

- Ability to communicate in the dominant local language.
- Must be non-partisan with strong knowledge of local socio-cultural, economic, and political dynamics.
- Proof of conducting voter education or similar training.
- Proven report-writing skills.
Ward-Based Voter Educator
Requirements:
- Minimum diploma in Social Sciences, Education, or Project Management.
- At least three years’ experience in voter or civic education, community mobilisation, or social work within the area applied for.
- Must be a resident of the constituency or ward applied for.
- Ability to communicate in the dominant local language.
- Must be non-partisan with a strong understanding of local dynamics.
- Proof of conducting voter education or similar training.
- Proven report-writing skills.
