Southampton pulled off a major surprise in the FA Cup quarter-finals, defeating Arsenal 2-1 to book their place at Wembley Stadium.
The Championship side delivered a spirited performance on home soil, overcoming the odds against a heavily favoured Arsenal side.
They now join Manchester City and Chelsea in the semi-finals, with Leeds United and West Ham United set to battle for the final spot.
Despite Arsenal entering the match as clear favourites, it was Southampton who struck first.
Ross Stewart opened the scoring in the 35th minute, taking advantage of a rare defensive lapse from the Gunners.
Arsenal, typically known for their defensive discipline under Mikel Arteta, looked unusually shaky at the back, allowing Southampton to grow in confidence and control key phases of the game.

In an attempt to turn the tide, Arteta made key substitutions around the hour mark. One of those changes paid off when Viktor Gyökeres found the equaliser.
The forward bundled home a cut-back from Gabriel Martinelli, briefly restoring the goal difference and giving Arsenal hope of avoiding a loss.
However, Southampton’s response was swift and decisive. Manager Tonda Eckert showcased tactical brilliance from the bench, introducing Shea Charles late in the game.
The former Manchester City youngster made an instant impact, scoring the winner in the 85th minute to send the home crowd into celebration and keep the magic of the FA Cup alive.
Speaking after the match, Arteta refused to criticise his players despite another disappointing performance following their recent cup final loss.
“I love my players, what they have done for nine months. I’m not going to criticise them for losing here. What they are putting their bodies through, some didn’t have to be here today. I’ll defend them more than ever,” he said.
“If someone has to take responsibility, that’s me. We have the most beautiful period ahead of us. Normally, you have two or three moments like this in a season; this is the first moment with a level of difficulty. Let’s stand up and make ourselves count.”
He also challenged his squad to take accountability and respond strongly.
“No excuses about players that are missing or that are here with issues. Let’s look at ourselves in the mirror, accept the situation, rebel against it and go forward with clarity.”
Arteta emphasised the need for belief and consistency as the title race intensifies, with Arsenal still leading the Premier League.
“Give them clarity and conviction. Trust in our players and believe in what we do. Continue to do that with little tweaks that every game demands.
“We must maintain the attitude and energy at the highest possible level. That is critical to perform at the level we need to win matches.”

Southampton’s manager also hailed his team’s performance and the atmosphere that carried them through a memorable cup tie.
“You can’t just defend over 90 minutes against the quality that they have. We found a good mix of that over the whole game,” he said.
“I think the support has been amazing for both of the FA Cup games. You felt that Fulham, with 5,000 supporters, was quite special. Here, you felt the stadium had a different atmosphere right from the start. The feeling is clear that this year is something special in the FA Cup.”
Despite the celebrations, he stressed the need to quickly refocus on league duties.
“We want to make sure that we continue that journey as long as possible, but again, the reality is that from tomorrow it is about Championship football.
“We said this at the beginning of the week, that we put ourselves in a position to play for something in April and May, and then it’s full preparation.”
