President William Ruto and French Ambassador to Kenya, Arnaud Suquet, held a confidential diplomatic discussion, highlighting the close ties between Kenya and France.
“Kenya and France enjoy strong, cordial relations grounded in shared values and mutual interests, with France emerging as one of Kenya’s leading investors,” President Ruto stated, highlighting the depth of cooperation between the two nations.
The meeting, held at State House, Nairobi, on April 7, 2026, explored avenues for expanding bilateral cooperation across critical sectors, according to Ruto.
“We are expanding cooperation across key sectors, including green industrialisation, the blue economy, agriculture, health, the digital economy, infrastructure, and education, to unlock greater opportunities for our people,” he said, emphasizing Kenya’s strategy to leverage foreign partnerships for economic growth.

An important point of discussion at this meeting was the forthcoming Africa Forward Summit hosted by Kenya
“We reviewed our joint preparedness to host the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi on May 11-12, marking the first time the Summit will be held in a non-Francophone country, and a significant milestone in broadening its reach and impact,” Ruto remarked, noting the summit’s potential to amplify Africa’s influence in regional and international discussions.
The President stressed that the summit will address critical economic and development issues.
“At the summit, we will actively engage on key issues, including reforming the international financial architecture and strengthening secure, sustainable economic partnerships,” he explained, emphasizing the importance of coordinated strategies for Africa’s growth.

The third major issue that emerged from the discussion was the invitation extended to Kenya for the G7 Summit, which is supposed to take place right after Africa Forward.
“We also talked about the imminent G7 Summit, where President Emmanuel Macron has invited Kenya to participate. The G7 Summit right after Africa Forward will be a good chance for Kenya to carry forward Africa’s agenda into the international arena,” Ruto explained.
