The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has listed six regions expected to experience rainfall during the week.
In its weekly forecast published on Monday, April 6, 2026, Kenya Met said rainfall is likely to continue in parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South Rift Valley, the Southeastern Lowlands, the Coast, and Northeastern Kenya from April 7 to April 13, 2026.
The weatherman also noted that daytime (maximum) average temperatures of more than 30°C are expected in the Coast, Southeastern Lowlands, Northeastern, and Northwestern Kenya.
Night-time (minimum) average temperatures are expected to drop below 10°C in some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Central Rift Valley, and areas around Mount Kilimanjaro.
In the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and parts of the Rift Valley, Kenya Met forecasts morning rains in a few places, followed by afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms.
Counties expected to experience these conditions include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, and Narok.
In Northwestern Kenya, which includes Turkana and Samburu counties, sunny intervals are expected during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night. However, morning rains and night showers may occur in a few places, particularly in northern Turkana.

For the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi and its environs, mornings are likely to be cloudy with occasional rains in a few areas, giving way to sunny intervals. Afternoon and night showers are also expected in some places.
Other counties in this region include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi.

In Northeastern Kenya, covering Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, Kenya Met says morning rains, as well as afternoon and night showers, are likely to occur in a few places during the first half of the forecast period.
For the Southeastern Lowlands, which include Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties, as well as inland parts of Tana River County, sunny intervals are expected during the day with partly cloudy conditions at night. However, morning rains and afternoon and night showers may occur in isolated areas.
At the Coast, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, as well as the Tana Delta, morning, afternoon, and night showers are likely to occur in a few places.
