Old Mutual Announces Leadership Changes

Old Mutual Holdings PLC has announced changes to its Board of Directors, including the appointment of Barbara Chesire as an independent Non-Executive Director.

In a notice dated April 7, 2026, Company Secretary Nannette Milingi said the appointment took effect on March 31, 2026, and remains subject to regulatory approval.

“The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Barbara Chesire as an independent Non-Executive Director of the Company,” the notice read in part.

Chesire is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of AB Entheos Limited, a Kenya-based advisory firm that designs and implements inclusive insurance and risk financing solutions, particularly in climate and nature-related risks.

Through the firm, she works with governments, development partners, and insurance stakeholders to expand access to insurance in underserved markets across Africa and Asia.

She brings extensive experience in strategic leadership, business growth, investments, and stakeholder engagement within the insurance and financial services sectors.

Barbara’s Education Background

Chesire is also a Henry Arnhold Fellow of the Mulago Foundation, where she supports innovation initiatives at AB Entheos Limited.

She holds an Executive Postgraduate Degree in Global Business from the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School and a Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Calgary.

Currently, she serves as a member of the Board of Governors at St Andrew’s School, Turi, and as a trustee of the Mara Elephant Project. She has also previously served on various boards in the financial services sector.

In addition, Chesire was appointed by the Government of Kenya to the Taskforce on Human-Wildlife Conflict Compensation Schemes, where she contributed to the design of the country’s first Human-Wildlife Conflict Insurance Scheme.

Old Mutual Welcomes Barbara Chesire

The Board welcomed her appointment, expressing confidence in her contribution to the company.

“The Board congratulates and warmly welcomes Barbara on her appointment and looks forward to her valuable contribution to Old Mutual,” read the notice.

The company noted that the announcement was issued with the approval of the Capital Markets Authority (CMA), in line with the Capital Markets (Public Offers, Listings and Disclosures) Regulations, 2023.

It added that the regulator does not take responsibility for the accuracy of statements contained in such announcements.
