Share

The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) has opened a public objection window as it moves to provisionally register four new political parties.

In a notice issued by John Cox Lorionokou, the Registrar of Political Parties invited members of the public to submit objections either in writing or in person within seven days from the date of publication.

“This is in line with Section 5 (2) (a) of the Political Parties Act of Kenya,” Lorionokou stated in the notice.

Four Proposed Parties Listed for Registration

According to the notice, the four proposed political parties seeking provisional registration are the National Forum Party (NFP), Clean Alliance Party of Kenya (CAP-K), New Face Party of Kenya (Face), and Mwongozo Mpya Party (MMP).

The National Forum Party (NFP) has proposed green, black, and red as its official colours. Its symbol will be the Aspire Mark, accompanied by the slogan: “Tuko One, Tuko True.”

The Clean Alliance Party of Kenya (CAP-K) will feature green, white, yellow, and dark blue colours. The party’s symbol is a sweeping brush, with the slogan: “Sauti ya Haki.”

Meanwhile, the New Face Party of Kenya (Face) plans to use brown, black, and white colours. Its symbol will be Bluetooth, and the party will operate under the slogan: “Sauti ya Mwananchi, Nguzo ya Taifa.”

The Mwongozo Mpya Party (MMP) will adopt olive green, burnt orange, and black as its official colours. Its symbol will be a phoenix, and its slogan reads: “Sote pamoja.”

Public Encouraged to Review Party Details

The ORPP noted that full particulars of the proposed parties have been made available to the public through its official website.

Members of the public are encouraged to carefully review the information and submit any objections or concerns regarding the proposed registrations.

Objections can be delivered physically to ORPP offices or sent electronically via the official email addresses provided by the Registrar.

Seven-Day Period Set for Submitting Objections

The Registrar emphasised that public participation plays a critical role in ensuring transparency and accountability in the party registration process.

“Any objections may be presented from the date of publication of this notice in writing or in person within seven days,” Lorionokou said.

The ORPP noted that once the objection window closes, all submissions received will be reviewed before a final decision is made on whether the parties will be fully registered.

New Parties Could Expand Kenya’s Political Landscape

The move comes as the ORPP continues to carry out its mandate under the Political Parties Act to register and regulate political parties, as well as administer the Political Parties Fund.

Observers note that the registration of new political parties could further diversify Kenya’s political landscape ahead of future elections.

The seven-day objection period offers citizens a formal opportunity to influence the country’s political direction by raising concerns before final approvals are issued.
