United States President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Iran, vowing a powerful military response if Tehran fails to comply with a nuclear agreement prohibiting the development of nuclear weapons.
The warning comes a day after the U.S. president paused military action against Iran for two weeks following a deal brokered by Pakistan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement dated Thursday, April 9, 2026, Trump said U.S. military assets would remain deployed in and around Iran until the agreement is fully honoured.
He warned that any violation of the deal could trigger unprecedented military action.
“All U.S. Ships, Aircraft, and Military Personnel… will remain in place in, and around, Iran, until such time as the real agreement reached is fully complied with,” Trump stated.
“If for any reason it is not… then the ‘Shootin’ Starts,’ bigger, and better, and stronger than anyone has ever seen before,” he added.
Trump further insisted that the agreement, which bars Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, must be strictly enforced, while also stressing the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure.
The U.S president further stated that the military is ready for any situation that might escalate.

Trump’s warning comes a day after he indicated, through his Truth Social platform, that the U.S. was pausing military operations in the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which had persisted for about a month following accusations that Tehran was pursuing nuclear weapons.
The U.S. president confirmed progress in diplomatic engagements and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz following consultations with regional leaders in the Middle East.
He noted that discussions with Pakistani officials had influenced the decision to temporarily halt military action, expressing optimism about ongoing negotiations with Iran.

He said the U.S. had agreed to suspend attacks for two weeks to allow room for diplomacy, adding that the move was part of a “double-sided ceasefire” and that Iran’s proposal could form a basis for negotiations.
“We have agreed to suspend the bombing… and are very far along with a definitive agreement concerning long-term peace,” Trump stated.
The U.S. president also confirmed receiving a proposal from Iran, which he said could guide ongoing talks.
The reported 10-point plan includes a U.S. commitment not to attack Iran, continued Iranian control of the Strait of Hormuz, acceptance of Iran’s uranium enrichment, and the lifting of all sanctions.
It also calls for the withdrawal of U.S. forces from the region, an end to UN resolutions against Iran, compensation to Tehran, and a halt to the wider conflict, including fighting in Lebanon.
