10 Suspects Arrested as Police Dismantle Notorious Mafia Gang in Nairobi

A coordinated police operation by officers from South B Police Station has successfully dismantled a notorious criminal gang known as the ‘Tokyo Mafias’ operating within Makadara, Nairobi.

The raid, conducted on 11th April 2026, resulted in the arrest of ten suspects believed to be behind a series of violent robberies and burglaries in the area.

According to reports from the National Police Service, the crackdown followed weeks of intelligence gathering and public cooperation.

The operation targeted the Tokyo gang’s hideouts within the Fuata Nyayo and Shimo La Tewa areas, where officers apprehended the suspects without major incident.

Evidence and Seized Items

During the raid, police recovered an imitation firearm, pangas, swords, and other lethal weapons suspected to have been used in criminal activities.

Also seized were two television sets believed to be stolen property, as well as an assortment of house-breaking tools, including hammers and crowbars.

Police said these items were used to facilitate numerous break-ins across the sub-region, terrorizing residents and causing significant property losses.

All ten suspects are currently being held in custody at South B Police Station as detectives finalize investigations.

They are expected to be arraigned in court once processing is complete. Police say the arrests mark a significant step towards restoring safety and order in Makadara and its surrounding neighborhoods.

Makadara Crime Under Control

In a statement, the National Police Service said the operation was made possible through close collaboration with members of the public, who provided critical information.

The service urged residents to remain vigilant and continue reporting suspicious activities through established security channels.

Security agencies have, in recent months, intensified operations targeting organized criminal groups within Nairobi’s residential areas.

The police have reiterated their commitment to maintaining security and ensuring that all criminal elements are brought to justice.
