The Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) has issued a public warning cautioning prospective students and parents against enrolling in nursing programmes offered by an institution that lacks official approval.
In a public notice dated April 20, 2026, the council identified Northlands International Medical Training College as an institution purporting to offer nursing courses without the necessary accreditation from the regulatory body.
According to the council, Northlands International Medical Training College is offering nursing-related programmes despite not meeting the regulatory standards required to operate such courses in Kenya.
The NCK emphasized that it remains the sole authority mandated to approve nursing and midwifery training institutions in the country.
“It has come to our attention that the following institution is purporting to offer nursing courses and, unfortunately, it’s without the necessary approval from the NCK: Northlands International Medical Training College,” the council stated.
The council warned that any nursing or midwifery course offered without its approval is invalid and does not meet professional training standards.
“Any course offered without NCK’s approval is NOT recognized and DOES NOT meet the required standards of training and professional practice,” the council said.
Additionally, the regulator clarified that certain training programmes commonly advertised by some institutions are not recognized under its framework.
“Further, we caution the public that Nurse Aid or Nursing Assistant training is NOT a recognized programme by the Nursing Council of Kenya,” the notice added.

“We urge prospective students and their guardians to verify the accreditation status of any institution before enrolling in any nursing or midwifery programme,” the council noted.

For further inquiries, members of the public have been advised to contact the council directly through its official communication channels.
