The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) is a training institution under the Ministry of Health, entrusted with the role of training various disciplines in the health sector to serve the interests of Kenya, East Africa, and beyond.
Each year, students seeking to pursue KMTC courses select their preferred programmes and campuses based on their career preference and performance in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
KMTC on Tuesday, April 22, 2026, directed applicants wishing to change their course, campus, or defer their studies to use the institution’s official online admissions portal.
In a notice to applicants, KMTC said all requests for course changes, campus transfers, and deferment are now processed digitally, eliminating the need for manual applications.
“The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) informs all applicants that requests for a change of campus, a change of course, or a deferment of studies are now submitted through the official KMTC admissions portal. All these services are available online,” read part of the statement.
Applicants are required to log into their KMTC admissions portal and follow a simple process.
Once logged in, they should open the dropdown menu located at the top left of the screen, select the desired service, either deferment, change of course, or change of campus, and then fill in the required details before submitting the request.

KMTC noted that once a request is submitted, its status will remain “submitted” until it is reviewed by the Admissions Office.
Applicants will then receive a text message confirming whether the request has been approved or declined.
The institution stressed that approval for course or campus changes is not automatic and depends on the availability of space in the preferred option.

“Approval for a change of campus or course depends on the availability of space in the selected option,” KMTC stated.
At the same time, KMTC clarified that requests for deferment for the September 2026 intake are currently closed, meaning applicants cannot postpone their studies for that particular intake.
Applicants have been urged to seek clarification only through official KMTC communication channels to avoid misinformation.
