The Social Health Authority (SHA) has announced the start of tariff negotiations with contracted healthcare providers under the Public Officers Medical Scheme Fund (POMSF), set to begin on April 28, 2026.
In a notice issued on April 24, 2026, SHA said the negotiations will address key areas, including tariffs, service delivery arrangements, and claims management processes.
According to the authority, the negotiations are being conducted in line with Clause 10.2(c) of the POMSF Addendum and follow consultations with major government institutions and unions.
Among stakeholders involved in reaching the consensus are the State Department for Public Service, Teachers Service Commission, National Police Service, Kenya Prisons Service, Kenya National Union of Teachers, Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers, and the Union of Kenya Civil Servants.
The Authority emphasized that the outcome of the negotiations will shape how healthcare providers deliver services to public officers under the scheme.
“The negotiations will cover tariffs, service delivery arrangements, and claims management processes, in line with Clause 10.2(c) of the POMSF Addendum,” the authority said in the notice.

The Authority issued strict instructions to contracted healthcare providers, warning against charging patients any additional fees during the negotiation period.
“Contracted providers must not charge beneficiaries out-of-pocket fees or co-payments during the negotiation period,” SHA stated.
Providers have also been directed to sign the agreed tariffs once finalized, with SHA warning that failure to comply could lead to termination of contracts.
“Providers who do not agree to the tariffs will have their contracts terminated,” the notice added.
