Choosing the right university for engineering in Kenya is a significant decision, especially given the strict accreditation requirements of the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
According to the list by EduRank updated in 2025, the best universities in Kenya are ranked based on their research performance in Engineering.
EduRank.org is an independent metric-based ranking of 14,131 universities from 183 countries. They utilize the world’s largest scholarly papers database with 115,295,786 scientific publications and 2,964,008,315 citations to rank universities across 246 research topics.
In their overall rankings, they add non-academic prominence and alumni popularity indicators.

According to the rankings, UoN remains the top-ranked institution in Kenya for 2026. Its Faculty of Engineering is renowned for producing top-tier consultants.
The programs are traditionally rigorous and carry significant weight in the regional job market.

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Egerton University was established on 1st March 1997.
It then consisted only of one department, namely Agricultural Engineering, which hitherto was administered under the Faculty of Agriculture.

University of Eldoret (UoE)
Founded in June 2011, the School of Engineering upholds the values of diligence, integrity, inventiveness, hard work, and lifelong learning to provide top-notch engineering education.
Mechanical and Production Engineering, Civil and Structural Engineering, and Agricultural and Bio Systems Engineering are all offered by the school.
The school of engineering initially offered just two programs: the Master of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering and the Bachelor of Engineering in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering.

These include a PhD in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, an MSC in Sanitation and Sanitary Engineering, and an M.SC. in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering.

Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT)
