Many of the world’s biggest apps and websites have suddenly stopped working properly.
Tracking website Down Detector has revealed that some of the affected apps include Snapchat, Roblox, Fortnite, Duolingo,Canva,Ring and Prime Video.
More accounts of service problems were reported within Clash Royale,Life360,My fitness Pal,Xero, Fortnite,Wordle,Coin base, Playstation, Vodafone and even Pokémon Go Users, indicating the widespread nature of the outage.
The disruption seems to stem from a fault at Amazon Web Services (AWS), which provides much of the backbone for today’s internet infrastructure.
According to the company’s service status page, AWS reported “elevated error rates” and delays affecting several of its services.
The outage began at around 8 a.m. in the UK (midnight Pacific Time).

The disruption started early morning October 20, as users reported many of their favorite online platforms were either performing slowly, or completely inaccessible.
The company found problems with the Amazon DynamoDB and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) both of which are vital in offering storage and computing power to large internet-based services.

In response to growing frustration from users, several companies issued statements acknowledging the outage.
They assured customers that engineers were working around the clock to resolve the issues and restore normal service.
Some apps have since reported partial recovery, though full functionality may take time to return.
