Arbantone Rapper Stoopid Boy, Known for Hit ‘Gbag Na Jug,’ Dies

Popular Arbantone artist Stoopid Boy, known for his hit song “Gbag Na Jug,” has passed away.

According to several media reports, the artist died by suicide at his home in Gotta City, in eastern Nairobi.

The reports indicate that Stoopid Boy had been battling depression and substance abuse for several years.

A video circulating on social media shows residents gathered at the scene where his lifeless body was reportedly found.

His manager, Dr Castro, was among those who gathered at the scene following the discovery of the artist’s body.

Kenyans Mourn Stoopid Boy

Following his death, Kenyans, including friends, family, fellow artists, and fans, have taken to social media to mourn the young musician and pay tribute to his life and career.

A Kenyan identified as Makiadi expressed disbelief over the reports, saying he hoped the news of the talented rapper’s death was not true. He also raised concern over the challenges facing creatives, particularly young artists.

Plug TV journalist Chief Okuzo also mourned Stoopid Boy, saying he had recently seen the rapper looking jovial and was unaware that he was battling personal challenges.

Presenter Fella also paid tribute to the artist, writing, “R.I.P., Stoopid Boy. It’s heartbreaking to hear about his passing. May his soul rest in peace.”

Who Was Stoopid Boy?

Stoopid Boy, also associated with “Tugonyere,” was a Kenyan Arubantone and Gengetone rapper from the Gotta City area of Nairobi, also known as Gota City or Riverbank.

He rose to prominence through his memorable verse on the viral song “G Bag Na Jug”, which became popular in Kenya and earned millions of views across digital platforms.

The artist was also associated with the Gotta City music collective, which featured several young creatives from the area.

Before his death, Stoopid Boy had publicly spoken about his struggles, including depression and substance abuse. Media personality Oga Obinna had previously taken him to rehabilitation.

However, reports indicate that he later relapsed after leaving rehabilitation and returned to the Riverbank area.

He subsequently engaged in an online dispute with Obinna, making several allegations, including claims that his rehabilitation had been used for promotional purposes.
